Putting aside the fact that all of your shared documents are contained in one place, the messaging feature alone simplifies communication. If you have ever used the Slack app or visited a web forum, then you are already familiar with the communication style in Teams.
The conversation is kept in timeline form, so there is never a lost email. Also, if you weren't a part of the team in the beginning and join it later, you still have access to the entire thread from the very beginning. Furthermore, your Team can have multiple Channels or sub topics, so you don't overcrowd your thread with multiple conversations at once. You may be wondering about the external user and whether he/she will actually use the app instead of email. Fear not, simply use the "@" symbol followed by your team name to notify all of its members through email or follow it by the specific members name to only notify a person at a time.
