Once you’ve made the decision about the equipment and software you want to leverage in your business, it becomes time to actually pay for it—but financing a computer can feel overwhelming. There’s so many options out there and sticking to your budget is important, so how can you determine which one is right for you?
We’re here to break down some of the easiest and most transparent options when it comes to financing Microsoft Surface devices, then explain how that process works in our online store! We’ll also cover an exciting financing option directly from Microsoft.
Microsoft Surface Financing Through Protected Trust
Once you’ve visited our online store and filled your cart with all kinds of tech goodies, it’s time to continue moving through the checkout process.
We accept the traditional payment options you’re used to seeing when shopping online elsewhere: Express checkout with Amazon Pay, PayPal, and Google Pay, and payments via Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover credit cards. However, what we want to focus on today is a finance product called Klarna.
We offer two main versions of Klarna on our website:
- “Slice It.” This version is meant for financing Surface devices that cost up to $1,000. It’s as simple as its name implies—simply “slice” the purchase amount into four equal payments. The first payment is due at checkout, then the rest are due at two week intervals until the device is completely paid for. There are no finance charges and no interest rates with this plan! It’s a great option for smaller purchases, and makes it possible to bridge a billing cycle on your credit card to spread out the cost of a new Surface device.
- Credit Product. This more traditional credit product is meant for larger purchases up to $10,000. It utilizes payment terms anywhere from 6-36 months, depending on the size of the purchase and your personal preference. A 9.99% finance charge is involved with this option—a great rate for a product like this! The credit approval process is super simple and can be completed all online. All that’s required is three basic pieces of information: the last four digits of your social security number, your date of birth, and your telephone number. This information is entered into our secure portal and goes straight to Klarna, who makes the credit decision in a matter of just seconds. It’s never stored with us at Protected Trust, so you can rest easy knowing your confidential information is safe and sound. Once you’re approved, the checkout process can be completed and your equipment is shipped!
The one caveat with the Credit Product version is that it's based on personal credit, which could present an issue for small business owners. If you’re looking for a more traditional finance product based on business credit, we have those available as well. Microsoft Surface Financing Through Surface All Access
There are options for financing a computer directly through Microsoft as well. In October 2018, Microsoft rolled out its Surface All Access payment program that starts at $24.99 a month for 24 months. This plan is offered by WebBank and serviced by Dell Financial Services through a revolving line of credit. There is no up-front cost, and you pay zero interest during the term of the agreement. You can even finance Microsoft’s more expensive computers and latest models under Surface All Access!
Your monthly payment buys you an interest-free Surface bundle, and while this typically ends up costing more over time than it does to pay for the computer outright, this option has two major benefits:
- You get important add-on benefits thrown in, including the Type Cover keyboard that is otherwise an optional accessory, plus a two-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 and world class protection and support from Microsoft.
- It frees up cash flow, allowing you to start using your Surface devices immediately without having to allocate a large chunk of your budget to paying for them all at one time.
With Surface All Access, you have 30 days to return the device to a Microsoft Store without any obligation, but the two-year Office 365 subscription is non-refundable. Additionally, all Surface devices come with a standard one-year warranty.
If you go for this plan, remember to read the fine print—outstanding balances at the end of the promotional period are subject to credit terms that range from 19.24-29.99% variable APR, and the minimum interest charge is $2.
